Notes about the Adafruit "Game of Life" kit.
Kit:

I used
http://ponoko.com/ to cut a plastic bezel so the boards wouldn't be so wobbly. It came out pretty well.
On the off chance that someone wants to make their own:
svg file for plastic bezel:
GoL-cover-names.svg (based on ponoko's starter kit then I used inkscape to edit it)
python script to calculate the dimensions:
GoL-dimensions.py.txt (dimensions scraped from Adafruit's circuit board design file)
This svg file has some extraneous stuff in the margins - I had some space left over so I made a couple of tchotchkes for the kids. Since ponoko charges by the complexity of what you cut you'll probably want to either delete the stuff, or at least change the text to something meaningful to you.
I made mine from "Acrylic Clear TRANSPARENT 0.12 inches" but it probably doesn't need to be as thick as that. I think there's an 0.08 acrylic that would work fine.
I made the holes a little larger than they need to be in case my calculations were off but they seem to be OK.
I'm using nylon nuts and bolts to bolt the bezel to the circuits. They come in packs of 15 which is annoying since the board has 16 holes in it but the cheap yankee in me wasn't about to buy a box of 15 just to use one. So I left two out of the middle.
It would be very cool to improve the bezel so it would hold the boards upright. You'd need to make a couple of tabs on the bottom edges of the board and use the margins (where I made the tchotchkes) to make a couple of bars to fit on those tabs.
