UDDI refers to a spec and implementation of a "technical discovery layer". It's basically a web services yellow pages; a mechanism for businesses to publish information about the Web Services that they provide. The core component is an XML document called a "business registration" that contains (from a business perspective)
- "white pages" contact info
- "yellow pages" category info based on a standard taxonomy
- "green pages" tech info about the services themselves
From a technical perspective, the UDDI schema groups that information into:
-
businessEntity
- business info, i.e. "white pages" and "yellow pages"
-
businessService
- service info, binds a set of web services to a either a business process or category of services
-
bindingTemplate
- binding info, each bindingInfo
points to a tModel
which is metadata that describes the formal spec for the binding
