A great site for help with phone and ethernet wiring is
. It seems to be broken at the moment, so here's another site with ethernet cable pinouts:
is a standalone memory tester, i.e. it's a tiny little program that you put on a bootable floppy. Since it doesn't need an operating system it can run on any PC. It can be useful if you're just not quite sure that your machine is healthy. Ubuntu live CD's have this on them.
I had a problem with an old P5/133 locking up tight. No oops, no crash, nothing. Turns out that the problem was fixed by configuring the ROM BIOS to
assign PCI interrupts using PNP. I told the BIOS to hard-wire them and things were fine. Go figure.
- what keys to press to get into the BIOS on many different PC's
- arduino microcontroller kits
- more arduino stuff
- fun little electronic kits
- electronic kits and a prototype circuit board service.
