DebianPrinting
(revision 2) (raw view)
_(other DebianTips)_ I'm running Debian 2.2 (a.k.a. Potato). First get the right kernel modules set up - you need parport.o, parport_pc.o and lp.o. I had to add a line to /etc/modutils/arch/i386: =options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7= and then run =update-modules=. For some reason CUPS had a problem with PAM so I couldn't connect as root so I couldn't add any printers. I think it's because I have something configured to not allow root to login remotely. Not sure how to change that. I tried =lprng= with =apsfilter= and they seem to work great. I think that you need to restart lpd after you're done running apsfilterconfig: =# /etc/init.d/lprng restart= I have an old Epson Stylus Photo which seems to work fine with the "uniprint" drivers. -- Main.TobyCabot - 25 Jan 2001 <br>
